Welcome to my horse artist website!
I am a professional equine and pet portrait artist. I specialise in handmade, life-like custom horse portraits in pastels and charcoal. My horse portraits hang on walls in horse lovers’ homes all over the world as commissions are accepted internationally. I endeavour to create a realistic portrait of your horse or pony that captures your equine friend’s essence – their look and personality. Please take a moment to browse my horse portraits gallery. “You can really tell that you love horses, Sandra. There’s something special about all your horse work, I just love it.” Claire, pet portrait artist
If you are thinking about ordering a portrait of your own pet or another animal lover’s, have a look at the price list and then contact me by filling in the contact form or by sending me an e-mail (firstname.lastname@example.org). I will always try to reply within 24 hours and am always happy to help. During the drawing process, I can email photos of the ‘work in progress’. Once your portrait is completed, a scan will be e-mailed to you for approval. I only require a small deposit; the balance is not due until you are 100% happy with my work.
Your horse portrait is drawn from the photos you send me (by e-mail) so you can choose your favourite pose, that special ‘look’ that is so typical of your equine friend and that you love the most it is the details that matter. We can work together to choose the colours and the composition – either a head or whole-body study, with or without a rider. The ‘pose’ can be still, in motion or in action, on a farm, ranch, by a stable, or barn, landscape or seascape. I am able to combine different photos in order to create that perfect portrait of your horse or pony. I welcome any breed – whether it is a Shetland pony mare, a Thoroughbred foal, a Welsh pony gelding, or a Shire horse stallion.
I thoroughly enjoy drawing pets and wildlife, with horses and ponies being my favourite subject. I think it takes a lot more than artistic ability to create a good horse portrait which touches the heart and which will be a lasting memory of your special friend. Horses are not easy to draw – yet I feel I have got the ability as well as the knowledge and, what is more, love of all things equine which enable me to draw your horse the way you see it. I have been drawing horses since I was 3 years old, proudly presenting my Mum with a new drawing every day. I started horseback riding when I was 7, and was given my first horse – an Icelandic horse – at the age of 13. You can find out more about Kolbakur’s story by clicking here.
All of my portraits are drawn with love. I like to find out about my ‘models’ and ‘connect’ with them while I’m drawing. I have loved horses all my life and know how you feel about yours. You just can’t be unhappy around horses.
Horse portraits, horse painting, in fact, any pet portrait or painting make for lovely and very special gifts – personalised gift vouchers are available. I draw any pet – please go to my pet art website for more examples of my artwork which I think compares favourably with other horse artists..
I can’t wait to draw your horse or pony for you! – Sandra Palme
