About the breed (source cf. Wikipedia) The Percheron is af powerful draft horse originating in the Perche valley in northern France. Percherons are noted for heavy muscling and for an aspect of power and ruggedness. A Percheron's head and neck should be typical of the correct draft horse, with a large and full prominent eye, a broad forehead, and straight face. The neck is well-shaped and powerful. Percherons have well-defined withers, a deep girth, a short back, a long, somewhat level croup, big, well-rounded hip and powerful muscling in the lower thigh. The Percheron horse has a very pleasant disposition and is proud, alert and intelligent, strong and willing. They have the strength to pull heavy loads and the graceful style to pull a fine carriage. Percherons can be ridden and some have even been trained to jump. As for their hair coat color, Percherons are generally black or gray. Some Percherons have white markingson the head and feet, but excessive white is not desirable. Percherons range in height from 15 to 19 hh. They can weigh up to 2,600 pounds .
